About CSIR-CFTRI

CSIR−Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore, India (A constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi) came into existence during 1950 with the great vision of its founders, and a network of inspiring as well as dedicated scientists who had a fascination to pursue in-depth research and development in the areas of food science and technology. Research focus of CSIR-CFTRI has been revolved around broadly into the following areas: Engineering Sciences, Technology Development, Translational Research and Food Protection and Safety. Food Technology being inter-disciplinary in nature the mandate or vision of the Institute is fulfilled through various R&D Departments and Support Departments along with its Resource Centers at Hyderabad, Lucknow and Mumbai.

Scientific Themes of Conference
  • Fumigants and chemical insecticides for stored grain management
  • Biopesticides and phytochemicals for storage of food grains
  • Mycotoxin management during storage of food grains
  • Non-chemical methods for stored grain management
  • Novel methods for detection of infestation in stored grains
  • Insecticide resistance management in stored grain pests
  • Rodent control and management

About The Conference

About Food Protectants and Infestation Control Department of CSIR-CFTRI in the context of International Virtual Conference

The importance of scientific methods in storage and preservation of food commodities as an adjunct to quality assurance were addressed in depth. Effective control of stored grain pests for farmers, industries and national organizations were demonstrated through an array of storage options ranging from traditional concepts, chemical disinfectants, eco-friendly biopesticides, cooling and hermetic storage. Improved understanding of the physical and biological interactions and interdisciplinary research was the focus of grain storage pest management. At present, the shift is towards the development of ecofriendly alternative fumigants and contact biopesticides for safer food storage.
